in another effort to review every video game that has helped distract me from the crushing weight of my own mortality and the unavoidable horrors of the human condition: i'd give this game an 8.2/10 with the footnote: the first time i ever played this game was the same night doordash brought me someone else's delivery of two stuffed crust pepperoni pizzas and an order of breadsticks. i asked doordash what to do and those mfs basically just said the food's mine now and apologized to ME for the inconvenience. i did find it in my heart to forgive them. so anyway i ate the pizza and played risk of rain. excellent night.

I really miss Risk of Rain 2. I used to enjoy this game so much and play quite a lot but lately after each dlc addition I feel like playing less and less, now I'm not sure if it's some placebo effect or I'm too stupid but the quality of the game feels like it took a nosedive and every update feels less and less tested or with lesser art quality to what hopoo used to output pre-gearbox handling of the game. Now every run feels weird and the netcode somehow feels worse than it was, It feels like the game has been injected random assort of modpacks without real rhyme or reason, and the game slowly with each update losing more and more of it's identity and art style. Not really sure how to feel about it and also not really sure how I feel when I'm playing, however mind you if you've never played RoR2 this might completely fly past you and you wouldn't get what the hell I'm even saying in this review so if that's you then you might find hours of fun and entertainment in Risk if it clicks with you, in that case I do recommend the game to you probably.
