Crusader Kings III: Don't Google My Family Tree Regret: 5% (the game is great, my dynasty should be investigated) In Crusader Kings III I murdered my brother, imprisoned the Pope and married someone I really, really should not have married for the bloodline. That was just Tuesday. It's a strategy game on paper, but in practice it's a medieval soap opera where you are the villain. Each generation brings new disasters, like the heir who turns out to be an idiot or the wife plotting to kill you. 103 hours, and my dynasty's legacy is a war crime.

Recommended759 hours playedEnglish800 hours on Steam and 700 hours on Playstation 5. I have created Kingdoms, Empires, and Dynasties. I have reformed the Roman Empire. I have had Holy Wars declared against me. No, I have never finished a game. This game is a history nerd's wet dream and a roleplayer's sandbox. It's like playing chess on ten different boards at once. The DLC has added a lot to the flavor of the game to keep me invested and playing consistently. Why do I even buy games on sale when I only play CK3? Adding East Asia and improving graphics scared me. Somehow everything runs like butter off a bagel on the steamdeck. Props to the development team for the By God Alone expansion. What an incredible feat to release yet another massive overhaul to the player experience. I cannot recommend this game enough. Really, I can't. I've bought it twice for myself and multiple times for my friends. The multiplayer experience is an absolute blast. The music is incredible. Only downside I'll give into this review is that so much DLC has come out that players get overwhelmed and confused which ones to get. If you buy them all and just start- boy howdy is it a lot to take in and learn. This is not an easy game to pick up with its high skill cap, but once you figure it out, it's impossible to put down. 10/10

Crusader Kings 3 is less of a grand strategy game and more of a repetitive, 3D incest simulator designed to milk your wallet with "Chapter Passes." The core gameplay loop gets incredibly boring after 50 hours because every ruler essentially plays the same way. The AI is utterly incapable of handling its own succession laws, meaning massive empires inevitably explode into chaotic border gore without you lifting a finger. But instead of deepening the core strategy, diplomacy, or warfare, Paradox has focused on pushing ridiculously overpriced DLCs. Royal Court charged us expansion-level prices for a 3D throne room that you click through twice before ignoring. Tours & Tournaments finally added some life to the game, but it's utterly absurd that we have to pay premium prices just to make peacetime remotely interesting. If you don't buy their annual passes, you are left with an empty shell where you just click the same three pop-up events about a peasant stealing a goose for 300 years. Save your money until they stop chopping up basic features to sell as premium content.
