If you don't find a way to absolutely turn every single map into an open field by using wall charges and anti tank rockets, you are playing the game wrong. CQB is for nerds. Jokes aside, the game is great and there is a lot of freedom as to how much property damage you can (and will) cause while clearing a building (or neighborhood) or how quietly and tactically you will move through a mission. The game has a ton of content and replayability on its own (with the random level and campaign generation) but mods are highly recommended as they add even more to the experience (new units, equipment, map variations and enemy reworks) and they are incredibly easy to download using the workshop and can be disabled and reenabled from a mods menu in the game.

Overall a solid success! Door Kickers 2 expands well on its prequel with three different squads, the Rangers, local SWAT, and the CIA SAD, each requiring different yet enjoyably challenging playstyles as you manage their respective strengths and weaknesses (quality/quantity/strategy).

Considering the stellar reviews which gave me quite a lot of confidence in my purchase, I'm pretty disappointed in this title. 1. There seems to be little to no environmental storytelling at all. 2. Everything you can't see in your vision cone, which is basically everything, is blue - which makes you feel like you're not in the middle east but in a computer "simulation" or something. It should be a slightly muted color like most other isometric/2D games. 3. Killing enemies seems to be the only outcome to the conflict here (I've played about 20 missions and not a single fighter has surrendered). 4. You're forced to play 15 missions before you can start any of the campaigns. Although, to be fair, with the way the game is designed this is basically serves as the tutorial, it results in having to put more than 2 hours into the game before really "starting it" and losing any option for a refund. I was expecting something with the atmospheric storytelling and conflict resolutions options from games such as SWAT 3/4 or Ready or Not but in an isometric view. Unless you strictly want to be shooting English speaking terrorists with absolutely no nuance or depth in a 75% blue world, I'd recommend avoiding this title and looking into an alternative.
