This is Ace Combat refined in every aspect to excellence. It is the best Ace Combat Project Aces ever made. As much as I would like there to not be almost 8 years between this game and Ace Combat 9, if it means Project Aces can make another game of this quality, or somehow even better, then it will be so, so worth it. It was worth it this time. The most unbelievable achievement of this game is the mission design; it is both the longest campaign of the series (for a single playthrough at least) while also making *every* single mission enjoyable. There are no boring gimmick missions here. The story is a massive improvement over 7. It had me from start to finish. This game looks frankly unbelievable at times. The clouds and skyboxes in this game are stunning, literally, as multiple times I found myself just admiring how beautiful a world Project Aces crafted. I can see why actual pilots could always want to fly. A *video game* showed me that. And of course, it sounds amazing too, of course with an amazing soundtrack, but also just the sound design taking a step up from 7 as well. I mean what do you want me to say; it's 10/10 no notes (except for what I wrote above)

9/10. Compared to AC7 you can see the budget difference, the game looks very good. Positives: • Gameplay is very good, with a lot of features from previous AC games, and you can carry multiple special weapons, like Project Wingman. • The campaign is very good, with 30 missions which is 10 more than AC7 • 10/10 Soundtrack per usual • FOR me personally, I had no performance issues, but other people are having issues, so be wary. • All of the Shadows/Lux Lunae themes are absolute bangers. Negatives: • Multiplayer is very grindy Honestly there might be more negatives but i cant think of any. Overall I highly recommend it. I really hope this game succeeds and we get DLC and maybe get a second holy trinity with AC7, AC8, and someday AC9.

Bandai, we can't play online on SteamOS. We can access the lobby, interact with other players, but as soon as we try to start a mission we get "Error ST-3200003", which seems to be related to the devs forgetting to click the "Enable Linux Support" button on EAC. Plenty of other games use the same EAC AC8 is using (Dead by Daylight, Elden Ring, Elden Ring Nightreign and The Outlast Trials), and they all support SteamOS without problems. I'll gladly revert this rating and give the game a thumbs up as soon as multiplayer starts working on SteamOS. Fix the game!
