simply put, its the best and most convenient way to play this classic title. all the other ports are buggy and incompatible with modern hardware. also, the real-time remastered graphics option is a nice touch. personally, i find myself playing with the classic graphics, but its always nice to flip to the modern graphics from time to time to see how the art team handled the designs. - as for the games themselves, theyre absolutely timeless. SR1 is an amazing adventure game with solid exploration, a permanent map, thick atmosphere, fun puzzles, and lackluster combat. its a great playthrough if you want to go back and see what SR2 was built on, and if you want to go back and watch the legendary opening cinematic again. SR2 steals the show though. the masterful narrative elements truly elevated the title beyond a simple exploration and puzzle game. it succeeded in building upon everything that made the first game special while also improving the combat slightly. This is a MUST PLAY if you want to feel the full impact of LOK : Defiance again. the only thing that ages the series is the combat. no combos. no mechanical inspiration. no movement. but you dont play this for the combat. thats what LOK : Defiance is for. this is a puzzle, story, and exploration game first and foremost. the combat is set dressing. its only there to serve the vibe of the game and nothing more. but the VIBE THO. the narrative and atmosphere does not compromise its serious tone for the sake of modern, relatable sensibilities. its pure in that way. - also, side note: if youre muslim, try playing these games during ramadan. theres something special about fasting while youre traversing between the spirit and material realms while you play a character that looks like he hasnt seen food for his whole unlife.
