KEEP DRIIVING its a minimalist wonder. Its simple life seen as a strategic game. Keep Driving feels like a light fast paced RPG mixed with a strategy board game and a strategy card game. Your goal souns simple enought: travel across the map to reach a distant destination. But along way even the most mundane and ridiculous things -potholes, roadworks, or getting stuck behind a tractor crawling down the road- can end up ruining your entire trip. But its a real life adventure, because you have an almost-empty wallet, and your car its a crap. And that´s where the game becomes surprinsingly strategic. You have to put together the right party, almost as you wold in a traditional RPG -except that instead of recruiting wizards and warriors, you´re picking up punks and other hitchikers you meet along the road. Every person you bring along, every purchase you make at the convenience store, every car customization, and every road you take can make the difference between reaching your destination or a misserable failiure. The result is a wonderfully caotic experience: deceptively simple, incredibly strategic, and extremely fun. Game clain to be a 2000 road trip, but theres an 80s feeling everywhere. And a LOT OF ROCK N ROLL

Recommended38 hours playedEnglishI keep struggling to write a review for Keep Driving, since the game means an awful lot to me. There's truly no game like it: no single game that can similarly capture that beautiful, strange, dust-beaten experience of 'wasting' your fleeting youth on the road like this. It's got this wonderful old-school indie game sensibility (read: early 2010s) that can't really be replicated anymore (in what must be some irony) and plays great, but it's the sheer painstakingly-crafted atmosphere of a bygone era that it absolutely crushes in a way nothing else ever hope to. It's evocative of those feelings of cruising around during the tangerine twilight on a hot summer day, idling into adult life, windows open and wind beating at your shaggy holiday-hair. There's that warm sense of temporal liminality, of that middle-place between childhood and adulthood - it's the melancholic temporary escape of the cookie-cutter suburbia via Limewire'd indie music CDs and the futile promise that you won't become your parents. You're shuffling around aimlessly in some third-hand beater with fifty bucks in your pocket and a head foggy and full of promise. On scraps of paper you're trying to make sure your first tattoo is something really 'meaningful' to you, whatever that means. My GOTY 2025 if not the decade. Play Keep Driving. it's something really special.

One major downside is that the game gets repetitive pretty quickly. The biggest issue for me is that there are 10 different endings, and after reaching each one, you have to start the game over from the beginning. Because of this, the gameplay starts to feel repetitive as early as the third playthrough. I think it would have worked much better with 3 main endings, while the other 7 could have been optional side endings that don’t require you to replay the entire game and don’t interfere with the main storyline. That said, I really liked the game’s visual style and overall atmosphere. I can confidently say that I regret spending €13 on this game.
