I agree with everyone else on the filler content. There's definitely a lot of padding to expand the length of the game but I'm one of the few who didn't mind. Story-wise I loved it, I loved the interactions and side missions with each of the main cast. I can't wait to see how they end REMAKE trilogy. I'm super excited for Revelations.

Leaving Midgar and traveling with the full party makes the world feel much more alive, and I really enjoyed watching Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, Yuffie and the others grow closer throughout the journey. The story is mostly excellent, but I think it becomes unnecessarily complicated toward the end. The alternate realities and the constant questions about what is real can sometimes take away from the emotional moments. Aerith's death is still a powerful and emotional scene, but I really did not like how ambiguous everything becomes afterward. Is she dead? Is she alive in another reality? Is Cloud actually seeing her? I understand what Square Enix was trying to accomplish, but for me it weakened the impact of her death. If a character is going to have such an important and emotional death, sometimes it is better to simply let the moment stand on its own. 😂 **Score: ⭐ 8.5/10** --- ## ⚔️ Gameplay Rebirth takes the excellent gameplay from Remake and expands it in almost every direction. There is much more exploration, more Materia combinations, more abilities, more characters, and much more freedom in how you approach battles. The amount of content can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I would much rather have too much to do than too little. **Score: ⭐ 9.5/10** --- ## 🥊 Combat The combat is one of the game's biggest strengths. Every character plays differently, and switching between them during battle keeps things interesting. The Synergy system is also a great addition and makes the party feel like an actual team. Boss fights are generally excellent and often require more than simply attacking until the enemy falls over. **Score: ⭐ 9.5/10** --- ## 👥 Characters The characters are fantastic. Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, Yuffie and the rest of the party have great chemistry, and the quieter moments between them are just as enjoyable as the big story scenes. The journey feels much more personal because you actually spend so much time with the group. **Score: ⭐ 10/10** --- ## 🌍 World / Level Design This is a massive improvement over Remake. The world is much larger and far more varied, with forests, deserts, beaches, mountains, cities and plenty of areas to explore. There is almost too much to do sometimes. 😂 You can start a main story objective and somehow end up spending an hour doing completely unrelated activities. Not every side activity is equally good, but the world itself is great to explore. **Score: ⭐ 9/10** --- ## 🎨 Graphics / Art Direction Rebirth looks beautiful. The character models, environments, animations and cinematics are all impressive, and the colorful environments are a huge contrast to Midgar's darker atmosphere. There are some noticeable compromises depending on the graphics mode, but the overall presentation is still excellent. **Score: ⭐ 9/10** --- ## 🎵 Music / Voice Acting The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. The classic FFVII themes have been rearranged beautifully, while the new tracks fit the different locations and scenes perfectly. The voice acting is also very good, especially among the main cast. The music during Aerith's final scenes is particularly memorable. **Score: ⭐ 10/10** --- ## 🖥️ Performance / Optimization The game is generally enjoyable to play, but the technical side is not perfect. Depending on the graphics settings, you can notice compromises between image quality and performance. The PC version also could have used better optimization. Nothing that ruined the experience for me, but it is definitely an area where the game could have been better. **Score: ⭐ 8/10** --- ## 💰 Content / Playtime / Value Rebirth is absolutely packed with content. The main story is long, there are plenty of side quests, exploration, mini-games and optional activities. You can easily spend dozens of hours here without touching everything. Some of the side content is better than others, but there is no shortage of things to do. **Score: ⭐ 9.5/10** --- # ✅ Pros ➕ Fantastic characters and relationships ➕ Excellent combat system ➕ Huge and beautiful world ➕ Outstanding soundtrack ➕ Tons of content ➕ Great exploration ➕ Excellent boss fights # ❌ Cons ➖ The story becomes unnecessarily complicated ➖ Aerith's situation is too ambiguous ➖ Some side activities feel repetitive ➖ Performance and image quality could be better --- # ⭐ Overall Score ## **9.3/10** FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is an excellent JRPG and a huge step forward from Remake. The world is bigger, the combat is better, the characters have more room to shine, and there is an almost ridiculous amount of content. My biggest problem is still Aerith. Her death itself was incredibly effective, but the way the game keeps questioning whether she is actually gone, whether she exists in another reality, and whether Cloud can really see her took away some of the emotional weight for me. I really wish they had simply let the death have its impact instead of making it so complicated. 😂 Aside from that, I had a fantastic time with Rebirth. If you enjoyed Remake, this is absolutely worth playing. 🎮 **Steam:**

My short review synopsis: The actual game systems are better. The combat is better. The weapon upgrade system is far worse than Intergrade. The party feels more alive in the open world. I like that they help from the sidelines. The world is vastly more open. Exploration has the potential to be much more interesting. But the game seems almost afraid to let you simply enjoy those things. Every region has to be filled with activities. Every activity has to be tracked. Every system has to have a character explaining it. Every character needs another quest. Every quest needs another minigame. And eventually, the freedom starts feeling like work. The game gives me a huge world and tells me I can explore it however I want. But the more I explore, the more I feel like I'm doing the same handful of activities over and over.
