Just a Bunch of Trash Pandas Causing Trouble! 🦝 If you've ever wanted to be a little raccoon running around with your friends, stealing everything that isn't nailed down and causing absolute chaos, Dumpster Gang might be right up your alley! The game was actually somewhat reminding me of R.E.P.O., but had less monsters and jump scares and more focus on the raccoon theme. Instead of trying to avoid all the terrifying monsters, you were aiming to perform ridiculous objectives while evading an exterminator who isn't exactly thrilled with your little crime spree. Gameplay The game can either be played solo or with up to 3 friends, running around different biomes stealing stuff and generally causing chaos. One of the things I enjoyed most about the game was the ability to work together with your squad to distract the exterminator while your fellow raccoons snuck around trying to steal the prized pumpkin or even some chickens. It was just such a hilarious experience being a little trash panda and causing so much trouble for the humans. The game has a very casual and goofy vibe to it, and I feel like that's what makes it so endearing. It's just a silly co-op romp that's exponentially more fun with friends. Demo Impressions The demo only has 2 levels, so there's only so much you can do to experience what this game has to offer. Nevertheless, I felt like I had a pretty good sense of what to expect from the full game. It's goofy objectives, cute raccoons and potential for hilarious pranks with friends really sold the game for me. I hope they add more variety to missions and biomes with the full release, as I think it'd be even more fun with a wider variety of stealable items. Final Thoughts Overall, Dumpster Gang is a lighthearted co-op romp that doesn't need to overcomplicate things in order to be fun. If you enjoyed games like R.E.P.O. but found the constant focus on the monsters and little jump scares to be a downer, this might be the game for you! Sometimes all we want is to turn off our brains and pretend to be a raccoon for a day, stealing chickens with our friends. 🦝 I'm looking forward to seeing what the full release has in store! This review is based on the demo, not the full game. Exterminator ruins the whimsey :( All the videos looked like this would have more "untitled goose game" vibes with the silliness and the fun with the items and running around, etc etc. But the moment the exterminator shows up that vibe is instantly ruined and you're now constantly looking around your shoulder at every turn. He's too fast, when he kicks you it's over because you're stunned and he will almost always grab you right after. If you're on multiplayer it's even worse because now your friend has to drop whatever it is they're doing to come rescue you, causing an annoyance and tension between players. We really tried to keep an open mind but now it feels the same as repo or lethal company AGAIN. If one of you screws up it ruins it for everyone. The only thing that will save this for us if there is a mode in the future to TURN OFF THE EXTERMINATOR so that everyone can do the fun tasks either together or separate without this tense atmosphere totally killing the fun vibe that we were expecting. So if you want whimsey and not stress. This is not for you.
