Two Puppies & One Mystery To Solve! Azad and I played the Haunted Paws demo together and we both had a super fun time with it! It's a cute and slightly spooky co-op adventure with you exploring mysterious locations, solving puzzles and try to rescue your kidnapped owner. The demo currently has only the first chapter, so these are more first impressions than a review of the whole game. Gameplay One of my favorite things about Haunted Paws was how the puppy's movement felt! Running around, digging, carrying things in your mouth and interacting with your environment were all smooth and satisfying. There are also a lot of little fun things to do, like finding a duck squeak toy, which I used to follow around Azad and annoy him with the squeaky sounds. Kind of distracted me from our actual goal of the game to find our kidnapped owner hehe There are dog treats that can be collected as a currency and spent on different hat cosmetics. Azad picked the knight helm and I picked up the princess tiara naturally. Even in just the demo there are a lot of options to choose from. Something to note is that the dog treats are shared between both players! So be careful not to spend your entire treat collection on a fancy hat, before telling your partner. But fortunately you both have to confirm a purchase! We also really enjoyed the co-op puzzles. Both of us had to work together and had some funny moments and mechanics as a result. Our favorite part was the driving. I had to steer the car while Azad controlled giving gas or reversing. It was so hilarious trying to avoid obstacles or trying to focus not to fall down the bridge while we both were laughing and yelling at the other one. Two puppies in one car, what could possibly go wrong? And apparently, there's even going to be an achievement for peeing on fire hydrants. Story & Atmosphere While the game is cute, it also has a slightly spooky atmosphere. Your owner has been kidnapped by mysterious creatures, and you and your puppy buddy have now to investigate and explore various spooky locations to uncover the mystery. The atmosphere has a nice balance of cute and creepy. There were some spooky creatures, but the game didn't take itself too seriously. Spiders are one of the creepy creatures, but thankfully the game has an arachnophobia filter which I personally appreciate! I can't really talk about the depth of the story yet, since the demo only has the first chapter or the intro to the game. But the premise was interesting enough for us to want to see where it goes. Performance & Polish For a demo it already feels pretty polished. Controls were nice, the movements of the puppy were cute and we didn't run into any major problems that spoiled the experience for us. The art style was really nice too. Everything had a colorful, cartoon-ish and slightly dark look to it, which worked very well with the spooky environments. Obviously it's too early to tell about performance and polish for the full game, but our first impression was a good one. Final Verdict Haunted Paws made a really good first impression on us both. It's adorable, surprisingly polished for a demo and just the right amount of spooky without losing its playful charm. What stood out for me was just how much fun we had interacting with the world and working together. The game doesn't need to be complicated to make memorable moments and the driving section had us both laughing. Of course, we've only played the first chapter of the demo, so we can't say much about the full game yet. But what we've played has definitely made us want to see more of this game. If you enjoy co-op puzzles, cute puppies and a little bit of spooky adventure, I would absolutely recommend trying out the demo! The game looked cool and had a fun concept but its just a walking simulator with a friend but its for younger audiences so I guess its okay but I wouldn't really recommend unless your into very simple puzzles that push you in the right direction constantly. It has a cool idea with the detective bits but again its more of a kids game.
